SHR Diodo Laser - Permanent Hair Removal

What is it?

The goal of laser hair removal is the gradual and permanent reduction of hair growth. Successful treatment will reduce hair growth by 85 to 95%.

AM Esthetic Clinic uses SHR Diode Laser Technology. SHR Diode laser technology is the only clinically proven method of laser hair removal that is virtually painless. The unique heating and energy delivery method effectively damages the hair follicle and prevents re-growth, while preventing injury to the surrounding tissue. At the same time, ICE™ tech cools the skin surface, preventing superficial burns and the sensation of pain.

SHR Diode laser technology has been proven in multiple clinical studies as the safest method of laser hair removal for all skin types, including dark skin whereby melanin is exponentially more sensitive to the heat used in laser treatment.

Hair follicles are damaged not by a single pulse of high energy, but by repetitive short energy pulses. These pulses minimize the risk of burning the skin, but the heat build-up raises the temperature of the dermis to the level needed for preventing hair growth.

Upon your consultation, our technicians will advise you of the best option for your individual case.

How is done?

During SHR Diode laser treatment, energy is applied over a large grid- not just the region of the hair follicle. The In-Motion™ technique collectively heats up and damages the hair follicles within the grid, ensuring full coverage and dramatically improving treatment results.

Who is it recommended for?

Everyone, older than 18 years old.

How should I prepare myself for the treatment?

The treatment area should be shaved completely before treatment. Do not wax, tweeze, epilate, or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments.

What happens if I don’t shave?

Lasers heat hair to damage the stem cells in hair follicles, but if the hair is too long, the laser can burn your skin. Freshly shaved is the best for treatment. If you can't resist waxing, allow hair to grow in for at least one week before a laser appointment.

What happens if I wait too long between laser hair removal?

In short: nothing. And that's the problem! If you wait too long between treatments, your hair follicles won't be damaged enough to stop growing hair. You'll see an initial thinning, but your results will fade, and it won't be long before you're back to normal hair growth.

How does it look in the end?

Successful treatment will reduce hair growth by 85 to 95%.

How long does it last?

After you're finished receiving all of your sessions, laser hair removal will last for at least two years; however, maintenance sessions may be needed to keep the area without hair always.

Aftercare Instructions?

  1. Do not pluck or wax any hair on the area that was treated.

  2. Exfoliate the area when any redness has subsided.

  3. Avoid extremely hot baths, showers, or steam rooms for at least 48 hours, post-treatment.

  • The best way to minimize the risk of side effects is to avoid UV exposure for 7 days pre- and post-treatment.

  • Avoid sunbeds and tans for at least 2 weeks before treatment.

  • Avoid sunless tanning products for 7 days before treatment.

 Side effects?

Side effects are very rare. Side effects such as discomfort, redness, and swelling can occur, but in most cases subside after 1-3 days. Less frequent side effects such as blood (bruising), blisters, or infections may occur. These rarer side effects heal after 1-3 weeks. Scarring can occur when blisters are formed. Pigment changes such as hypopigmentation (the skin becomes lighter) or hyperpigmentation (the skin becomes darker) occur very rarely and disappear, usually, after 3-6 months. Freckles and moles can disappear after treatment.

How many treatments should I do?

The number of treatments will vary based on skin color, hair color, thickness of hair growth, ethnicity, hormones and current medications.

To achieve permanent hair removal, it can take 6 to 9 treatments or more.

For some, it will be necessary to carry out treatments to maintain the result.

With white or gray hair growth, 'SHR Diode laser technology' may not achieve the desired hair removal. The SHR laser can be used on darker skin tones and special settings will be used to customize these skin tones. Additional treatments may be necessary.

What to expect during and after your session?

During your treatment, you can expect slight discomfort, similar to a rubber band snap on your skin but our highly skill therapist will do everything to make you as comfortable as possible.
